I fully agree with what JAIS is doing. If the church community thinks it is a raid on their freedom and rights, then think how the Muslims in this country would feel when other communities 'raid' the sacred word. Its bad enough to see Muslims being treated like dirt all over the world including Myanmar, India and in some reports even in China. In Malaysia, lets have some tolerance and keep things the way they are.
If the church community in Malaysia still insist on having their way, then I dare not imagine what would come next. Perhaps 'Halal' logo on pork-selling shops would be the norm one day. Or 'Assalamualaikum' sign at the entrance of brothels and casinos. My 'zakat' payment can now be used to fund a Christian 'madrasah' in Kelantan, to be managed by 'Ustaz' Benedict. I can sleep easy now that my flexy-interest conventional home loan is now Shariah-compliant because your loan and my loan are the same anyway. I will have to set meetings using the Muslim calendar because your 24-hour a day is the same as the Muslim's 24-hour a day. A friend saying 'Ya Allah' will not necessarily mean he is a Muslim. Eventually it does not matter because my Allah is now the same as his Buddha, or his friend's Lord Krishna, or another friend's Jehovah, or any equivalent god. Next the word Quran can be interchanged with Bible. It goes on and on.
