I don't understand why Marina Mahathir is now seen as a voice representing the Muslims, at least thats how it seems in the press. She may be one Muslim person but definitely not the authority on Muslim opinion; and definitely not the most religious Muslim in the country. I'm pretty sure there are million more Muslim women who will not agree with her. To stand out there and pretend to be the model for progressive and modern Muslim woman is just wrong. But it works for her as she gets more glamour and fame. If anyone wants to accuse me of judging her then do note that I have also assumed her to be Muslim. So either way I could be wrong.
I don't understand why the views of average Muslims in this country are seen as violating human rights or hardcore extremists. Aren't they entitle to have a voice in this Allah issue? Why the media only highlight the comments from NGOs and the Church, but not of those against the use of Allah. Are we not entitled to any say and any right? Why Marina and friends have more say than Sultan Selangor? Why such a big fuss over this word that they cannot give in, and yet they are too afraid to tackle issues like national unity or the education system that divides us.
