With what Facebook did to remove the links to a posting by Tun Mahathir about the Jews, I think those in support of the Palestinians should all ban Facebook for violating freedom of expression of our former PM. Sure, removing a few Facebook accounts will not make any dent to Facebook with over 1.5 bn users. But rather than rely your entire social networking experience to a single site that discriminate views, perhaps better if we look at alternatives that are more independent and fair. Or perhaps just disconnect yourselves once in a while and test other social sites. What harm will it do to you if Facebook dies? Nothing.
Instead of boycotting McDonalds, Starbucks that denied strong links to the Palestinian genocides, why not target to boycott Facebook instead? If Facebook is so political about selecting and removing threads in their site, then we should exercise our right to shut them down in Malaysia, or at least shut down on your PC screens or smartphones as a start. There are other means to get connected with your friends and families, Facebook is not the answer. I am glad that my Facebook account has been shut for over a year now as I have long foreseen the defects of relying to much on foreign social networking site with hidden interests.
Ban Facebook, now.
